How this works: Students will “race” each other to answer the 12 questions in their activity. Each player/team will work on their own tab and can view their progress compared to other players using the first sheet.
Sheet 1:
Add a title (text or image)
Directions
Check to make sure that all of your answers are correct – change the font if you want, the size, etc. Make sure that the spreadsheet is working the way that it is supposed to – test it out!
Team1/2/3/4 Sheet:
Modify the directions
Change any of the colors around/font if you want
Sheet 2: **Make sure you are on Sheet2**
Add in your questions (text or image)
Add in your correct answers – if there is only 1 correct answer, you can leave “aa” etc OR change it to gibberish – DO NOT LEAVE IT EMPTY
Add in your racer images

Finishing Details:
On sheet 2, click the check box in D14. This will turn everything white. For extra protections, you can highlight the entire spreadsheet and make the columns super wide and the rows super skinny.
Go to Data → and choose Protected Sheets and Ranges. You will click the + to add a sheet or a range. You’ll need to click the tab that says Sheet and choose Sheet2 if it is not already chosen in the drop down. Click Set permissions and then Show a warning when editing this range. Click done and then hide the tab.
You will then need to add protections to all of the Team Sheets.
On Team1, Team2, Team 3 and Team4, we will follow very similar protections. Go to Data → and choose Protected Sheets and Ranges. You will click the + to add a sheet or a range. You’ll need to click the tab that says Sheet and choose Sheet1 if it is not already chosen in the drop down and click the checkbox that says except certain cells. Click the grid, then holding down command/control, you’ll need to choose all of the answer spaces. Click Set permissions and then Show a warning when editing this range. Click done.
Last, you can add protections to Sheet1.
Go to Data → and choose Protected Sheets and Ranges. You will click the + to add a sheet or a range. You’ll need to click the tab that says Sheet and choose Sheet1 if it is not already chosen in the drop down. Click Set permissions and then Show a warning when editing this range. Click done.
⚠️A Quick Reminder About Sharing!
When you share your creations on social media, please do NOT include the Google Sheets URL or let it show in any screenshots or videos. Even a quick glimpse of the link means anyone can access (and steal) your resource for free – yikes! Keep your hard work protected and just show the activity in action without revealing the URL.
This template is the same as the original, with one key difference:
At the top of each player tab, students can now see exactly where they are in the race compared to their opponents.
The activity is set up and functions just like the original template, so please be sure to follow the original directions when using this version.
